what linguists define as being the idiolect, the particular stylistic mark of a translator. This personal and unique style that inevitably allows us to distinguish a text translated by one translator rather than another. The "musicality" of writing thus appears even in a technical text. The characteristics specific to the phraseology inevitably appear even in the translation of a text of little significance at first sight. The talent of a translation professional is therefore characterized by its own non-reproducible and impossible to assimilate "tune". Marco William Duranti is particularly convinced of it. After more than eight years at an academy, a rare illness that had a |
debilitating effect on his arms forced him to abandon his much loved and successful career as a classical concert guitarist: it was only in translation that he was able to rediscover (so to speak) his musical notes and the architecture making up his first passion. Nowadays, Marco enjoys once again the vital pleasure that a very strange spell took away from him. His numerous years of studies and concerts in England (he was born in London) and Canada (Toronto) have been put to good use. His natural bilingualism led him to start up Eurologos-Arezzo in the heart of Italy, amid the Tuscan landscapes so dear to Anglophones. |
